NFC Notes: 49ers, Buccaneers, Cowboys

49ers sixth-round rookie CB Tim Harris says it was nice to reconnect with 49ers CB Richard Sherman after the two bonded when Harris attended a youth camp.

“He’s a smart football player,” Harris said of Sherman via NBC Sports’ Jennifer Lee Chan. “He always knows where to be, so I’m going to try to learn as much as I can from him, just because of the type of player he is. I’m just ready to come in and learn from the best.”

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy hasn’t forgotten what HC Bruce Arians said at the owners’ meetings. McCoy posted a video of him working out on Sunday where he addressed Arians’ comments.

“Cinco de Mayo. Everybody out, probably getting ready to drink, probably drinking right now. No matter,” McCoy said via Greg Auman. “You want to question me? See what I do on Cinco de Mayo. I work. I work.”

“And I’ve got my kids with me,” McCoy continued via Auman. “How many people doing that? All-Pro on and off the field. Want to question me? ‘Is he going to be ready? Does he love football?’ What? Y’all crazy. Lost y’all mind. I work. Don’t you ever question me.”

The Cowboys are still uncertain about what they’ll get from DE Randy Gregory following his latest suspension.

“I think those things are tough things to get your hands around,” Cowboys VP Stephen Jones told Pro Football Talk, via Jon Machota. “Obviously a lot of it depends on the player and how he’s progressing within the program. Certainly our understanding is that Randy is doing a really good job of getting things back on track. We all know with addiction, there’s no clear path in terms of you wake up and all of a sudden you’ve moved on from it. That’s part of the journey that someone like Randy takes. But we do understand that he’s doing well. But we don’t know one way or the other if and when we are going to get him back.”
