NFC Notes: 49ers, Saints, Seahawks

49ers

  • 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said RB Tevin Coleman (shoulder) is “good to go” for the Super Bowl: “He’s worked his tail off to get healthy. He’s good to go. He’s confident.” (Matt Barrows)
  • In addition to Kris Richard, Ian Rapoport reports that the 49ers are also considering former Dolphins secondary coach Tony Oden as a possible replacement for Joe Woods.

Saints

Saints S Vonn Bell is in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason for the first time. However, he says he isn’t stressing the situation.

“I’m not really too stressed about it,” Bell said, via Nola.com. “I’m going to let the chips fall where they may and let the guy upstairs take care of the rest.

“I’m going to train every day and keep my mind off anything. Be at peace with everything, take this time off and recover my body, recover my mind. The rest will handle itself.

Bell says he would like to be back with the Saints next year, but realizes that it’s a business.

“It’s like home to me now,” Bell said. “You always want that, but it’s always business at the end of the day too.”

We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.

Seahawks

Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf tells Pro Football Talk that he isn’t sure why he fell in the draft, but HC Pete Carroll told him that it was because teams thought he was “too good to be true.

“I really couldn’t tell you,” Metcalf said. “Pete sat me down when I first got there and was like, ‘I think teams are scared that I was too good to be true.’”

“I thought my film spoke for itself. I think I ended up in the perfect spot. I thank the Seahawks for taking a chance on me,” Metcalf added.

  • According to Brady Henderson, Seahawks CB Shaquill Griffin, RB Chris Carson and S  Tedric Thompson earned raises for 2020 via the NFL’s proven performance escalator.
  • Henderson mentions that their base salaries jump to a non-guaranteed $2.147 million. Griffin was set to make $767,000 while Carson and Thompson were in line to make $735,000.
