NFC Notes: Bears, Buccaneers, Vikings

Bears

  • Ian Rapoport reports that while it looked bad on video, Bears TE Adam Shaheen‘s ankle injury turned out to not be as bad as it appeared.
  • A source tells Rapoport that Shaheen suffered a low-ankle sprain based on initial tests and while more tests are scheduled, he wouldn’t be ruled out to play Week 1 if no further damage is discovered.

Buccaneers

  • Buccaneers S Jordan Whitehead (shoulder) and RB Charles Sims (knee) left Saturday’s game with injuries, but Rick Stroud reports that neither is believed to be serious and likely won’t jeopardize them being ready for the start of the regular season.
  • Buccaneers claimed DT Adam Reth off of waivers from the Eagles. (NFLTR)
  • Buccaneers waived DT Drew Iddings with an injury designation.

Vikings

  • Ben Goessling reports that X-rays on Vikings CB Mackensie Alexander’s ankle were negative, but he’ll still undergo an MRI.
  • Darren Wolfson reports that the Vikings are out scouting other NFL teams and are “ready to strike” before the start of the season to add some offensive line help.
  • The Vikings tried to claim Michael Schofield last year, but lost him to the Chargers. With this in mind, Wolfson wonders what the Chargers would want for Schofield in a trade, given that Forrest Lamp is almost back to full health.
