NFC Notes: Bears, Giants, Redskins

Bears

Bears GM Ryan Pace issued the following statement about the re-signing of ILB Danny Trevathan:

“Bringing Danny back is a key re-signing for us. Not only is he a great inside linebacker and great leader on our team, he is a big part of our culture. We are proud to have him under contract in Chicago for three more seasons.”

Giants

Giants’ free-agent WR Corey Coleman hopes to get another opportunity in the NFL after recovering from a torn ACL sustained during last year’s training camp.

Just give me a chance,” Coleman said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. “I’m not asking for anything. Just a fair chance and opportunity.”

An NFC team scout told Raanan that he expects Coleman to be signed this offseason, but it may be his last chance to prove he can be successful in the NFL.

“Somebody is going to give him an opportunity, even if he has to go on the workout junket for a little bit,” said the scout. “I would be very surprised if he doesn’t get that opportunity. But, he is running out of time. This might be the last chance.”

Coleman feels that his injury history has helped him grow as a player and has matured since entering the league.

“I have a lot of growing to do, but I’ve grown so much,” Coleman said. “I look at myself four years ago, OK, I was 20 years old. I was a baby. Now I look at myself and my mind, and the way it works and my work ethic — everything has changed and matured. I got hurt, but I learned so much stuff.”
