NFC Notes: Buccaneers, Panthers, Redskins

Buccaneers

  • Per the Athletic’s Greg Auman, Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston is in a cast on his right thumb. Winston played through a thumb injury to end the 2019 season. 
  • The Buccaneers worked out CFL CB Tre Roberson on Monday. (Howard Balzer)

Panthers

  • According to ESPN’s David Newton, Baylor director of football operations Sean Padden and director of football technology Matthew Delgado have informed the school they are leaving. 
  • While nothing is official with either in Carolina under new HC Matt Rhule, both Padden and Delgado have followed Rhule from Temple to Baylor. 

Redskins

  • According to NBC Sports’ JP Finlay, the Redskins aren’t candidates to land Panthers QB Cam Newton this offseason despite his familiarity with HC Ron Rivera.
  • Washington already has invested major cap dollars into the quarterback position and drafted Dwayne Haskins in the first round in 2019. 
  • The Redskins announced they have promoted Tim Gribble to director of college scouting. (Twitter)
