NFC Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Washington

Cowboys

  • The NFLPA released its calculations for the performance-based pay benefit that was eliminated in 2020 but will still be paid by teams. Each team split $8.5 million between its players and payments are deferred to 2024. 
  • The top Cowboys player was OT Terence Steele ($487,135).
  • Calvin Watkins mentions that the Cowboys have shown interest in Iowa LB Nick Niemann and spoke with him at his Pro Day.

Eagles

  • The NFLPA released its calculations for the performance-based pay benefit that was eliminated in 2020 but will still be paid by teams. Each team split $8.5 million between its players and payments are deferred to 2024. 
  • The top Eagles player was LB Alex Singleton ($464,296).

Giants

  • The Athletic’s Dan Duggan writes the Giants are clearly betting on young players on the offensive line, as the only additions they made in free agency were veterans like C Jonotthan Harrison and G Zach Fulton that profile more as backups. 
  • Duggan notes the Giants failed pursuit of Rams OLB Leonard Floyd indicates to him they could make an aggressive move for a pass rusher in the draft. 
  • Duggan mentions former supplemental third-round CB Sam Beal has an uphill climb to make the roster this summer. 
  • He also expects the Giants to re-sign S Nate Ebner after this summer when he’s planning to try and play for the U.S. national rugby team in the Olympics.

Washington

  • SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano mentions that while the Broncos, 49ers and Washington were believed to have expressed interest in QB Sam Darnold this offseason, it’s unclear if those talks ever progressed past the preliminary stage.
