NFC Notes: Kirk Cousins, Rashan Gary, Packers, Vikings

Packers

Packers LB Rashan Gary was emotional when he received the game ball from HC Matt LaFleur after his third game back from a torn ACL and hugged DC Joe Barry after a comeback win over the Saints.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in here that wouldn’t go to war with this dude,” LaFleur told the team, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

“I’m gonna try not to get emotional just because it means so much to him,” Barry added. “To truly sit here and witness what he’s gone through — I’m the most positive, upbeat person on the planet, as you guys know. I was like, ‘Ah, God, there’s no way Rashan’s gonna be ready Week 1.’ And just to watch what he’s done Week 1, Week 2 and then to see that, it was really, really cool, so it was a cool moment to be a part of, not only the entire game, but just the postgame, and you could see how much it means to that kid.”

Vikings

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shut down any potential rumors between the Jets and Vikings QB Kirk Cousins.

“There’s nothing to that right now. But the Vikings are 0-3 and they made a decision where it certainly looks like they’re going in a different direction than Kirk Cousins next year,” Schefter said, via Vikings Wire. “That’s the one that, honestly, is a logical fit for both sides, if the Vikings want to do that. At that point they’re punting on their season. Who are they turning it over to? Nick Mullens? What are you doing if you’re the Vikings? It would send a bad message if you send Kirk Cousins away at this point in time. The problem is, it doesn’t make as much sense to the Vikings and the Jets right now. At least not to my knowledge.”

  • Vikings OL Dalton Risner‘s deal includes a $1.406 million base salary, a $1.375 million signing bonus, and up to $375,000 in per-game active roster bonuses. (Over The Cap)
