NFC Notes: Tremaine Edmunds, Christian Parker, Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

Cowboys DC Christian Parker is bothered that the team’s practices are filmed, especially because he used footage of the team’s practices to prepare for early-season games against them while coaching for other franchises.

It’s weird,” Parker said on 105.3 The Fan. “Not a fan. Once you get past Game 3 or 4, everything is on tape,” Parker said on 105.3 The Fan. “When you’re in Week 1 or 2, you’re looking for things. So actually, I don’t know if people realize this, I was following some of our media members and stuff even before I got [to the Cowboys] because when I was in Green Bay and Denver and Philadelphia, I’ve played Dallas in all three spots, us kinda trying to look for things.”

“You know me, I think at the end of the day, I don’t worry about that stuff too much,” HC Brian Schottenheimer added on the subject. “I mean, we all have each other’s playbooks. We all know what we run. We have videos going back decades that we can pull up. It’s not like they’re showing it from a game standpoint; the camera’s on, it’s moving. Are there things you can get? Yeah. But we get the same thing. So that doesn’t bother me. I’ve not always been that way. I think my dad [Marty] was definitely like, absolutely not. I think it’s more as I’ve gotten older and been around it and understanding. And look, we like eyes on us with the Cowboys. It’s a good thing. We’re proud of our brand and it doesn’t bother me.”

Eagles

  • Eagles DC Vic Fangio said DE Jonathan Greenard will be out for “another couple weeks at least” with a pectoral injury. (Brooks Kubena)
  • Philadelphia DT Jalen Carter lost 10 pounds this offseason after Fangio wanted him at a certain weight, which he hit. (Zach Berman)
  • An Eagles source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that QB Jalen Hurts looks “quicker and faster.” Philadelphia seems to want to get Hurts more involved as a rusher this year.
  • Fowler says there’s also excitement around WR Dontayvion Wicks, who the Eagles think can shine with more opportunities in their offense.

Giants

The Giants signed veteran LB Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year contract this offseason. New York DC Dennard Wilson said Edmunds will wear the green dot for their defense as its signal-caller.

“He’s the green-dot guy. He’s done a helluva job of picking up the defense, to try to get everybody lined up. He’s another guy that the players, they enjoy being around him. I’ve been around a lot of football teams — man, this defensive group, they love being around each other. To start a meeting, you see the high-fives and all the enjoyment, the conversations, and it’s funny, it’s like they just went and lifted weights together and they come in the meeting room like they hadn’t seen each other. They want to see each other have success,” Wilson said, via Steve Serby of the New York Post.
