Cowboys LT Tyler Guyton commented on his attempt to cement the left tackle spot as he competes with seventh-round pick Nathan Thomas in training camp.

“I mean, it’s the same as every day: coming to work and getting better, to try and get one percent better every day,” Guyton said, via the team’s official website. “I [want to get] more technically sound, more confident in the playbook and the scheme and, overall, just a better player,” Guyton said. “It’s a process, of course, and we have to take it day by day, one foot in front of the other. But, at the end of the day, I’m trying to get to a certain point where I feel good about going into the season. I’m not all the way where I want to be yet, and that’s what camp is for. I’m still trying to get better every single day, but it [definitely] feels like I’m going into my third year in the NFL. Things are slowing down for me, and I’m learning more every day.”

Eagles

Following a disappointing offensive season where they finished 24th in yards per game and 19th in points per game, the Eagles moved on from OC Kevin Patullo in favor of first-time OC and former QB Sean Mannion. Philadelphia HC Nick Sirianni spoke about picking Mannion over other candidates, saying he wanted an expert over a specific system. 

“I wanted somebody with just conviction. It wasn’t necessarily a system. I was after somebody that had conviction, had confidence, and really was an expert with what they were gonna teach,” Sirianni said, via Mike Garafolo.

Sirianni kept coming back to Mannion’s work ethic and expertise 

“Sean, I remember it was a long interview day. We had two other guys that day. Sometimes you get it late at night. You’re like, ‘All right, here we go. Get yourself ready.’ We didn’t really have to prepare ourselves because Sean was so energetic during that, that we had to bring him back for another one. Obviously, he’d impressed us so much that we hired him in this role, and he’s doing a great job, but just tremendous work ethic. Really stood out among a bunch of really good candidates and tremendous work ethic, expert in every position on offense. Not just ‘hey he played quarterback for a long time.’ He’s coached quarterbacks, and obviously he was an expert there.”

“It’s so fun to watch him just have complete control of what he wants from each position. The way he coaches the quarterbacks is the way he coaches o-line, which is the way he coaches running backs and etc. throughout the offense. It’s been fun being around him.”

Giants 

Giants DE Kayvon Thibodeaux enters the fifth year of his career after recording just 2.5 sacks last season in 10 appearances. New York DC Dennard Wilson called Thibodeaux a “glue guy” for the entire team and said his teammates gravitate to him.

“He’s probably one of the hardest-working individuals that I’ve ever met. He is a “glue guy” from a team standpoint, from a unit standpoint. He’s well-respected. He’ll speak his mind. He’s a guy that his teammates love being around him, and he wants somebody that’s always around that’s just true and honest with him … because he’s going to have some crazy questions (laugh). I think he’s comfortable being around this coaching staff. We accept him for who he is and what he represents,” Wilson said, via Steve Serby of the New York Post.
