NFL Competition Committee Weighing Two Sky Judge Proposals

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the NFL plans to weigh two proposals involving a “sky judge” concept during their May 28 virtual meeting.

Pelissero says that regardless of whether either proposal passes next Thursday, some version of the “sky judge” is likely to be tested during the preseason.

The Competition Committee’s report from last month mentioned that they support further analysis of on-field officials being assisted by officiating personnel who have access to a video feed.

Pelissero adds that where this personnel power would begin and end is really the big question pertaining to a “sky judge.”

Judy Battista mentions that the pass interference replay rule is so dead that the Competition Committee is not even discussing it again.

We’ll have more regarding NFL rule changes as the news is available.
