NFL Considering A Playoff Expansion?

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned towards the conclusion of the most recent ownership meeting in Dallas that the owners “teed up” the idea of expanding the playoff format from 12 teams, to possibly 14 or 16 teams.

Goodell added that this topic will most likely come up again in the coming months.

If the league were to move towards a playoff that consisted of 16 team, they may do away with the wildcard round all together, which in effect would force all teams to play in the first round. Since this represents half of the teams in the entire NFL, it seems like there’s actually a chance that the league could look to expand in the coming years and you would have to think that cities like Los Angles, Toronto and London would all be interested in having their own franchise.
