Tom Pellissero of NFL Media reports that the NFL and NFLPA are discussing the possibility of certain players such as rookies and veterans who changed teams this offseason and need physicals returning to facilities on a limited basis before June 26.
There are a number of players who have yet to take physicals for their new teams due to facilities being closed for nearly the entire offseason.
By allowing players to take physicals in the coming weeks, it would give them time to evaluate where they are physically and formulate a plan for how things will go once training camps open.
The NFL allowed teams to begin opening their facilities a few weeks ago and some coaches actually returned last week. More coaches are expected to return to team facilities this week.
Earlier in the day, a report mentioned that the NFL has discussed opening training camps in mid-July in order to give players more time to get ready for a regular season.
If that ends up being the case, it would make sense for the NFL to try to have at least new players take physicals before the dead period, which typically starts in late June.
Weโll have more regarding the NFL’s plans as the news is available.
