NFL Notes: 49ers, Bengals, Buccaneers, Raiders

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said he does not have an update on first-round LB Reuben Foster‘s shoulder injury, but that he would be “surprised” if he wasn’t ready for training camp.

No, there haven’t been any updates,” said Shanahan, via “It’s been the status quo. He’s been doing great with his rehab. I really have no concerns. I think he’ll be more than ready to go by training camp. That’s my feeling. I can’t promise that, but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.

  • According to Owcarzski, Core did not suffer any ligament damage and expects to be “OK“.

Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter compared third-round WR Chris Godwin to veteran Roddy White.

He does compete for the ball,” Koetter said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN. “And it’s way, way, way too early to say this, but in that respect, Chris reminds me a little bit of Roddy White. He’s similar size, a big guy that competes for the ball.

Kotter added that Godwin is off to a “fast start” during offseason workouts.

“Chris is off to a fast start,” Koetter said. “Let’s temper it until we get the pads on, but he did it last year at Penn State and he’s off to a good start here.”

Raiders OC Todd Downing said he is looking for ways to get recently acquired WR Cordarrelle Patterson involved in the offense.

He’s a fun tool,” said Downing, via Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I won’t speak too much about how he was used in the past; that’s somebody else’s job. But I can tell you that we’re going to have fun looking for ways to get him involved in the offense. He’s a big, strong, physical, dynamic-with-the-ball-in-his-hands type player, and we’re excited to see what he can do for us.”
