HC Jim Harbaugh said he doesn’t “know anything about” the report that Aldon Smith‘s nine-game suspension could be reduced.
“I saw that report and I don;t know anything about it,” Harbaugh said, per Paul Gutuerrez of ESPN.
However, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen confirmed the report on Monday Night Countdown after speaking to league sources.

HC Mike Pettine confirmed that they briefly considered benching QB Brian Hoyer in favor of rookie QB Johnny Manziel, but added that Hoyer will remain the team’s starting quarterback moving forward.
“Brian is still firmly our starter,” said Pettine, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. “Nothing’s changed. Each week we make the decision as to if we want to include Johnny in the plan.”
As for the topic of benching Hoyer, Pettine told reporters: “It was discussed briefly, but it was a situation where we still wanted to…at least try to end the game with Brian on a positive note.”
