NFL Notes: Adrian Peterson, Bears, Giants, & Jets

Adrian Peterson

  • Vikings HC Mike Zimmer confirmed that he spoke to RB Adrian Peterson recently, but admitted that he doesn’t know when he’ll show up for offseason workouts.
  • Zimmer denied that Peterson told him he won’t attend OTAs. (Jeff Darlington)
  • Zimmer said of Peterson’s options: “He’s really got two choices: He can play for us. Or he can not play.” (Jeff Darlington)

Bears

  • Bears RB Matt Forte was in attendance for the team’s voluntary workouts on Wednesday, even though there had been talk that he could holdout for a new deal. (Rich Campbell)

Giants

  • Giants HC Tom Coughlin said WR Victor Cruz is “coming along well” and was able to do some change-of-direction stuff on the side today. (Mike Garafolo)
  • Coughlin said he expects DE Jason Pierre-Paul to be at the mandatory minicamp in mid June, but admits there’s a chance he may not show. (Ralph Vacchiano)
  • First-round OL Ereck Flowers lined up as the Giants starting left tackle during Wednesday’s OTAs practice. (Dan Graziano)
  • The Giants had Justin Pugh playing left guard, John Jerry at right guard and Marshall Newhouse manning the right tackle position. (Dan Graziano)
  • Giants DE Robert Ayers left OTAs after he sustained a leg injury. (Mike Garafolo)

Jets

  • Jets HC Todd Bowles told reporters on Wednesday that while the starting quarterback job is Geno Smith‘s to lose, there will be competition in training camp. (Rich Cimini)
