NFL Notes: Bears, Bengals, Browns, & Chiefs

Bears

  • ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Bears first-round WRย Kevin White is “pushing to get on field” but Chicago plans to beย cautious with him moving forward.
  • As of now, there’s no time frame for White’s return, even though he has increased his running.

Bengals

Browns

Browns HC Mike Pettine expressed some frustration withย third-round RB Duke Johnson’s (hamstring) continued absence.

“Itโ€™s just disappointing that a guy weโ€™re counting on being a big part of what we do, to lose him at this formative time of what weโ€™re getting done,” Pettine said, via ESPN Cleveland. “Heโ€™ll have a lot of catch-up work to do. Thereโ€™s no substitute for getting live reps.”

Chiefs

Chiefs DCย Bob Sutton mentioned that they plan to take things slow with S Eric Berry, who is returningย Hodgkinโ€™s lymphoma, which forced him to miss the 2014 season.

โ€œWeโ€™ve just got to be smart with him, and heโ€™s got to be smart and realize this is going to take a little time no matter who you are,” Sutton said, via ESPN.com. โ€œWhen he came back originally he was excited. He was on adrenaline. He was going.

โ€œWeโ€™ve kind of made the conscious effort that weโ€™re going to manage this as well as we can, let him be the lead dog in it with what we need. Weโ€™ve got plenty of time. Heโ€™s played a lot of football, so weโ€™re not too concerned about that. Heโ€™s just got to get back where he feels comfortable and reacts and that type of thing.
