NFL Notes: Bengals, Jaguars, Raiders, Ravens, & Seahawks

Bengals

Jaguars

Impending free agent WR Cecil Shorts said that heโ€™s โ€œintriguedโ€ by test the open market next, but would like to remain with the Jaguars moving forward.

โ€œDo I want to be here? Yeah. Weโ€™ll deal with that when the off-season comes, Shorts said, via Ryan Oโ€™Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. โ€œBut right now, we have three games left so Iโ€™m trying to focus on Baltimore.

Shorts added that he believes the Jaguars are headed in the right direction as an organization.

โ€œI really like whatโ€™s going on here. I like how [general manager] Dave[Caldwell] is building the team, I like what [owner] Shad [Khan] is putting into the team and Iโ€™m a huge fan of [coach] Gus [Bradley] and the coaching staff. This is a team I feel is going in the right direction and I would feel terrible if I end up somewhere else and this team [goes], โ€˜Boom [and gets better],โ€™ because Iโ€™ve been through the rough times.โ€

Raiders

  • Bill Williamson of ESPN writes that Broncos OC Jack Del Rio could become a โ€œtop candidateโ€ for the Raiders coaching job next year.
  • Williamson admits that Jim Harbaugh is likely to be Oaklandโ€™s top target this offseason.

Ravens

  • Ravens practice squad RB Fitz Toussaint has been getting increased reps and he could be activated for Week 15โ€™s game due to Lorenzo Taliaferro like to miss Sundayโ€™s game.

Seahawks

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times writes that Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell could be a candidate for the Wisconsin Badgers head coaching vacancy.

Bevell admitted Wednesday that becoming a head coach at either the college or NFL level is his goal.

โ€œBeing a head coach someday is of interest to me,โ€ Bevell said. โ€œI would say I have thought about college. I donโ€™t know exactly at this point where it would be or what it would be. But I do feel like I want to be a head coach someday.โ€
