NFL Notes: Bengals, Jaguars, Raiders, Ravens, & Seahawks

Bengals

Jaguars

Impending free agent WR Cecil Shorts said that he’s “intrigued” by test the open market next, but would like to remain with the Jaguars moving forward.

“Do I want to be here? Yeah. We’ll deal with that when the off-season comes, Shorts said, via Ryan O’Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. “But right now, we have three games left so I’m trying to focus on Baltimore.

Shorts added that he believes the Jaguars are headed in the right direction as an organization.

“I really like what’s going on here. I like how [general manager] Dave[Caldwell] is building the team, I like what [owner] Shad [Khan] is putting into the team and I’m a huge fan of [coach] Gus [Bradley] and the coaching staff. This is a team I feel is going in the right direction and I would feel terrible if I end up somewhere else and this team [goes], ‘Boom [and gets better],’ because I’ve been through the rough times.”

Raiders

  • Bill Williamson of ESPN writes that Broncos OC Jack Del Rio could become a “top candidate” for the Raiders coaching job next year.
  • Williamson admits that Jim Harbaugh is likely to be Oakland’s top target this offseason.

Ravens

  • Ravens practice squad RB Fitz Toussaint has been getting increased reps and he could be activated for Week 15’s game due to Lorenzo Taliaferro like to miss Sunday’s game.

Seahawks

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times writes that Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell could be a candidate for the Wisconsin Badgers head coaching vacancy.

Bevell admitted Wednesday that becoming a head coach at either the college or NFL level is his goal.

“Being a head coach someday is of interest to me,” Bevell said. “I would say I have thought about college. I don’t know exactly at this point where it would be or what it would be. But I do feel like I want to be a head coach someday.”
