No where in Jim Caldwell’s statement does he say “he believes RB Ray Rice. deserves a second chance”.
Caldwell is implying that Rice is deserving of a second chance in the NFL.
Birkett’s article is titled: “Caldwell: Ray Rice deserves 2nd chance, not with Lions” so he too interpreted this as Caldwell implying that Rice should get another shot at a football career.
He says he believes in second chances and that at some point Rice will probably get one. He doesn’t say he believes Rice deserves one.
Fair point. We’ll change the note so there is no ambiguity with the Caldwell quote.
