NFL Notes: Broncos, Cardinals, Rams

Broncos

  • Mike Klis doubts that the Broncos would be in play for Steelers WR Antonio Brown, as reports have said.
  • However, Klis adds that Denver would have an ace in WRs coach Zach Azzanni who recruited Brown and was his coach at Central Michigan.
  • Klis mentions that new HC Vic Fangio can handle big personalities and the team has proven they can handle a โ€œcircus.โ€

Cardinals

  • According to Albert Breer, the Cardinalsโ€™ decision to hire Tom Clements as pass game coordinator makes sense when you consider that Arizona is likely to make Sean Kugler their de facto run game coordinator.
  • Breer says that Kuglerโ€™s position would make him essentially the most important offensive assistant Kliff Kingsbury has.

Rams

Rams RB Todd Gurley said he wasnโ€™t injured during the NFC Championship game and he just played a โ€œsorryโ€ game.

โ€œI was sorry as hell today,โ€ Gurley said, via ESPN.com. โ€œI was sorry. So, C.J. did his thing and the whole team did its thing.โ€

Meanwhile, Rams HC Sean McVay told reporters that the โ€œfeel for the flow of the gameโ€ led to C.J. Anderson getting more work.

โ€œThat was just kind of the feel for the flow of the game that we had,โ€ McVay said when asked about Gurleyโ€™s situation. โ€œNot anything against Todd. C.J. did a nice job, but I thought that they did a nice job as a whole, slowing down our run game, and we kind of just had to grind some things out.โ€
