NFL Notes: Broncos, Packers, Texans, Vikings

Broncos

Broncos HC Vance Joseph announced Monday that theyโ€™re sticking with Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback, despite his recent struggles.

โ€œAbsolutely. Heโ€™s our quarterback,โ€ Joseph said, per Nicki Jhabvala. โ€œHe canโ€™t play well if heโ€™s not being protected.

โ€œHe can play better, absolutely. But itโ€™s not a Trevor problem. Itโ€™s the unitโ€™s problem.โ€

Packers

  • Packers HC Mike McCarthy explained that Aaron Rodgersโ€˜ broken collarbone is serious enough that itโ€™s at least an eight-week injury: โ€œThereโ€™s a reason heโ€™s on IR. Itโ€™s a minimum of eight weeks and the worst-case scenario heโ€™d be lost for the season.โ€ (Rob Demovsky)
  • As for QB Brett Hundley, McCarthy says they plan to look for ways to get him opportunities: โ€œHave to look at opportunities. He will do better. His issues were more in time clock, timing. Weโ€™ll be better next time.โ€ (Tom Silverstein)
  • McCarthy also said of Hundley: โ€œI know this young man. I believe in him.โ€ (Tom Silverstein)

Texans

  • Texans HC Bill Oโ€™Brien said Monday that he could see LT Duane Brown playing in Sundayโ€™s game against the Seahawks, despite ending his holdout and reporting to the team today. (Sarah Barshop)
  • Oโ€™Brien said of Brownโ€™s return to the team: โ€œGood to have him back. Heโ€™s in good shape.โ€ (Aaron Wilson
