Falcons

  • According to D. Orlando Ledbetter, the Falcons pursued G J.R. Sweezy until the bidding escalated to the five-year, $32.5 million contract that he signed to with the Buccaneers.
  • Ledbetter mentions that Mike Person is competing with Chris Chester for the starting right guard role.

Texans

Texans OLB Whitney Mercilus said he expects to be completely recovered from a lingering hamstring injury in time for training camp.

โ€œIโ€™m feeling good, starting to get healthy,โ€ Mercilus said, via Aaron Wilson. โ€œIโ€™ve been here for an extra two weeks since weโ€™ve been out just rehabbing and things like that, just making sure Iโ€™m on pace to make it back for training camp.โ€

Mercilus went on to say that he is scheduled to meet with a specialist in Los Angeles this week.

โ€œI get to work with a specialist who has worked with [Green Bay Packers linebacker] Clay Matthews,โ€ Mercilus said. โ€œIt helped him. I trust the guy and trained with him three years ago.โ€œ
