NFL Notes: Cam Newton, Cowboys & Falcons

Cam Newton 

• Ian Rapoport reports that the NFL and NFLPA have interviewed members of the Panthers, medical people and unaffiliated personnel about what took place involving QB Cam Newton during the season opener.
• Rapoport adds that the Newton investigation has included reviewing video evidence, but investigators have yet to interview Newton.
• Rapoport says that the investigation could be wrapped up this week.

Cowboys

• Ian Rapoport reports that RB Alfred Morris is expected to have an expanded role today for the Cowboys.
• According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Cowboys are creating new routes for WR Dez Bryant to help him “get open quickly” and leave rookie QB Dak Prescott with some easier throws.

Falcons

• A source tells Ian Rapoport of their running back situation: “We know it’s a fantasy nightmare.” According to Rapoport, the Falcons believe they have a two-headed monster.
• Devonta Freeman is reportedly still viewed as the starter but the Falcons consider Tevin Coleman to be just as talented and they plan to get them equal touches moving forward.
