NFL Notes: Draft, Bills, Cardinals, & Colts


  • Utah RB Devontae Booker is visiting with the Patriots today after meeting yesterday with the Steelers. (Ian Rapoport)
  • EWU OL Clay DeBord has had workouts and/or visits with the 49ers, Patriots, Lions, Jets, Falcons, Buccaneers, Titans and Cardinals. (Rand Getlin)
  • N.C. Central CB Ryan Smith is visiting with the Rams Wednesday and has visited Raiders, Vikings, Buccaneers, Dolphins, and Steelers. He’s also had private workouts for the Cardinals, Lions, Jets, Panthers, Patriots and Ravens. (Aaron Wilson)
  • Iowa State WR Quenton Bundrage had a private workout with the Buccaneers. (Aaron Wilson)


  • Bills GM Doug Whaley didn’t rule out the possibility trying to move up to No. 2 overall: “I just said that there’s always a possibility.” (Tyler Dunne)
  • Whaley did, however, refute the reports that they’ve contacted with the Browns for the No. 2 pick: “We haven’t made calls to anyone yet.” (Chris Brown)
  • Instead, Whaley said that trading down would be “more intriguing” than trading up. (Mike Rodak)
  • According to Whaley, “there’s a very, very good possibility we’ll be drafting a quarterback.” (Tyler Dunne)
  • Regarding Ohio State QB Cardale Jones, Whaley said: “All these guys are leaps of faith, he’s a bigger leap of faith than others.” (Joe Buscaglia)
  • Whaley reiterated that they’re “actively seeking” to get long-term deals done with LT Cordy Glenn, CB Stephon Gilmore and QB Tyrod Taylor. (Chris Brown)
  • Whaley also said that they have not received any calls about a trade for Tyrod Taylor. (Joe Buscaglia)


  • Whaley confirmed that they only used 25 or 26 of their allotted 30 pre-draft visits. (Joe Buscaglia)


Long-time Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald admitted that Carson Palmer could have an impact on his decision to retire at some point.

“I would still have to think about it and see where I was at,” Fitzgerald said, via “A lot of it’s tied to Carson (Palmer) — Carson’s playing at a high level. I don’t want to go through any other quarterback situations. It’s been great to have the stability that we have now with the big fella, he’s been playing light’s out.”

  • Mike Jurecki is hearing that the Cardinals re-sign CB Jerraud Powers to a one-year deal at some point. Powers recently visited with the Cardinals.
  • Jurecki adds that Arizona is still likely to draft a cornerback at some point.


  • Colts GM Ryan Grigson said of targeting offensive line upgrades in the draft: “I don’t think we have any choice (but to upgrade the offensive line in the draft).” (Bob Kravitz)
  • The Colts are working out William & Mary LB Luke Rhodes on Wednesday. (Stephen Holder)
