NFL Notes: HC Hot Seat, Packers, Texans & DeAndre Hopkins

HC Hot Seat

Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union takes a look at NFL coaches entering the 2016 season on the Hot Seat.

  • The coaches with the hottest seats, according to Carlyon, are Chargers HC Mike McCoy and Jaguars HC Gus Bradley.
  • Meanwhile, Lions HC Jim Caldwell, Rams HC Jeff Fisher and Bills HC Rex Ryan all have “warm” seats writes Carlyon.
  • As for others coaches could end up being in danger of losing their job, Carlyon lists Cowboys HC Jason Garrett, Falcons HC Dan Quinn and Bengals HC Marvin Lewis as three coaches worth watching.

Packers

  • While there has been speculation that the Packers won’t be able to keep offensive linemen Josh Sitton, T.J. Lang and David Bakhtiari beyond this year, Bob McGinn writes that the Packers have “every intention” of trying to extend their contracts before next March.

Texans

Texans star WR DeAndre Hopkins, who is in the fourth year of his rookie contract, says that he just wants to be paid what he’s worth in a long-term deal when the time comes.

“I’m not looking for a certain range,” Hopkins said, via Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com. “I just want to be treated for what I’m worth. That’s fair to say, right?

Hopkins was then asked if the two sides have bad any progress on a long-term deal.

“You know, that’s between my agents and the Texans,” Hopkins said. “I love this city. I don’t want to play anywhere else but here. So the rest will work itself out, hopefully.”
