NFL Notes: Jason Pierre-Paul, Cowboys, Giants, & Seahawks

Jason Pierre-Paul

Giants HC Tom Coughlin told reporters that he had a “good conversation” with injured DE Jason Pierre-Paul on Friday.

“He’s looking forward to coming,” Coughlin said, via the New York Daily News. “He’s anxious to be here. But he’s not going to come until he feels like he’s ready to be able to play.”

However, Coughlin said there’s still no timetable for JPP returning to the team.

“It could be whatever amount of time,” Coughlin said. “I’m not even going to speculate.”

Giants

Giants WR Victor Cruz mentioned that his play is starting to resemble what he was before he sustained a season-ending patellar tendon injury last year.

I see a guy that resembles the guy that was playing last year,” Cruz said, via Dan Graziano of ESPN.com. “Still got that same pop, that same ability, that same lateral quickness of the line. So it’s just a matter of building off of that. There’s still a lot to work on, but I’m happy that the quickness is pretty much still there and I can still get upfield pretty quickly.”

Seahawks

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said that they aren’t any closer to getting S Kam Chancellor to report to training camp and end his holdout.

I don’t know that we’re any closer but I know that we’re all working, working to stay connected,” Carroll said Saturday, via NFL.com. “There’s still stuff to be talked out.”

Carroll added Chancellor is making a “very clear statement” by skipping team workouts.

“No, because he’s very strong minded,” Carroll said of whether or not this surprises him. “He’s wanted to make a very clear statement, which he’s doing.
