NFL Notes: Jay Ajayi, Draft, Eagles, & Rams

Jay Ajayi

Several executives tell Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that they have either have removed Boise State RB Jay Ajayi from consideration or have “backed way off because of how their medical staff evaluated his knee.

“I just don’t know if he’ll hold up physically,” one scout tells McGinn. “He’s had a lot of carries.”

According to Dane Brugler of CBS, some teams don’t even have him rated while others have dropped him down their draft boards due to the knee concerns.

Draft

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel polled 20 around the league regarding this year’s running back class and here’s how they rated them.

1) Toddy Gurley, 2) Melvin Gordon, 3) Ameer Abdullah, 4), T.J. Yeldon, 5) Tevin Coleman, 6), Duke Johnson, 7) Jay Ajayi, 8) Buck Allen, 9) David Johnson, 10) David Cobb, 11) Jeremy Langford.

Eagles

Rams

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Dispatch wonders if Nebraska DE/OLB Randy Gregory could be an option for the Rams.

While Thomas admits that a pass-rusher isn’t a pressing need for the Rams, HC Jeff Fisher didn’t rule out the possibility that they could still draft one this year.

“It would not be inconceivable to take another defensive end (or rush linebacker),” Fisher said in March. “It’s not out of the realm of possibilities.”
