NFL Notes: Odell Beckham Jr, Dexter Lawrence, AAF

Odell Beckham Jr

  • Ralph Vacchiano of SNY writes that there is currently no indication that the Giants are actually interested in trading WR Odell Beckham Jr.
  • However, should a team call, Vacchiano expects the Giants to at least listen to what they’re offering, but New York would likely need to be blown away in order to trade him.
  • Vacchiano takes a look at seven teams that could have some interest in a Beckham trade including the Raiders, 49ers, Browns, Dolphins, Colts, Steelers and Cardinals

Dexter Lawrence

Clemson DT Dexter Lawrence was asked about how he plans to handle questions about his positive test for a performance-enhancing substance during interviews at the Combine.

“Just tell the truth,” Lawrence said, via the Post and Courier. “That’s all I can do. It was heartbreaking whehttps://nfltraderumors.co/wp-admin/n I heard about it, but it’s just life. You’ve got to be tested sometimes just to bring out your character, and that’s how I’m going about it.

Clemson HC Dabo Swinney said the substance may have been given to players by the school, but Lawrence said he doesn’t know either.

“I do want to know how it got in my system and where it came from,” Lawrence said. “But right now, they are still doing their research to see where exactly it came from, and they don’t know where right now.

AAF

Chargers GM Tom Telesco recently mentioned that the Alliance of American Football is a “great idea” with the potential of operating as a complement league to the NFL.

“It’s a great idea,” Telesco said, via ESPN.com. “It has the potential to be a nice complement to the NFL. It’s a great spot for a developmental league for players, but even aside from that — coaches and front office, officiating, athletic trainers and video equipment people, public relations — all of that. So I think it’s a great place where people can develop in every department of football operations. Every department that touches a football team can get some real-life experience.”

Telesco added that they’ll have scouts at the games, especially for the San Diego Fleet and Arizona Hot Shots, given their proximity.

“With San Diego close and Arizona pretty close, it will be pretty convenient for us [to scout],” Telesco said. “It’s a place where young guys can go play.

“No. 1, you get a chance to go play football and get paid for it, so that’s nice. No. 2, you get great coaching. And No. 3, you get a chance to put tape together so the NFL can evaluate you again. Most of these guys we’ve seen before, but it gives them a chance to develop and learn, get better at their craft and get it on tape.
