NFL Notes: Pierre Thomas, Giants, Jaguars, Panthers, & Steelers

Pierre Thomas

Aaron Wilson reports that free agent RB Pierre Thomas wasn’t interested in signing a veteran minimum deal given his recent performance and the fact that he had offers from other teams.

  • According to Wilson, there’s still a chance that the Texans and Thomas could revisit the idea of him playing in Houston.
  • The two parties are likely to remain in touch over the next few weeks.

  • Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants signed veteran WR James Jones to a one-year deal worth up to $950,000.
  • Jones received the veteran minimum salary of $870,000 along with a $30,000 signing bonus.
  • He can also earn an additional $50,000 roster bonus if he’s on the 53-man roster as of Week 1.

  • Panthers signed CB T.J. Heath and DT Kenny Horsley.
  • Panthers waived P Matt Wile.

  • Steelers waived/injured WR Eli Rogers.
