NFL Notes: Reduced Rosters, Game-Day Travel, Colin Kaepernick

Reduced Rosters

  • According to USA Today’s Mike Jones, there has been some discussion about lowering the NFL’s preseason 90-man roster limit to around 75 or 80 to help with social distancing at team facilities.
  • However, not all in NFLPA circles are in support of this idea as it would mean fewer jobs for players.

Game-Day Travel

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that multiple NFL teams intend to fly to and from road games on the day of the game.
  • Florio admits that there will likely be limitations for certain teams like the 49ers, who are scheduled to fly across the country to play the Jets in Week 2.
  • Weather figures to be a factor too along with the possibility that issues with a plane could delay kickoff by several hours, or prevent the game from happening at all on the scheduled date. Although, Florio says if there are no fans attending games, it would be much easier to move the game back from Sunday to Monday.

Colin Kaepernick

  • Josina Anderson reports one team source says they got the impression free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick still wants to play and their conversation was positive.
  • Another team source Anderson talked to separately said it was a bummer they still couldn’t conduct individual free agent workouts.
