The NFL previously offered to reduce the number of preseason games to two, but the NFLPA has maintained that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to play any if the priority is ensuring that the 2020 season is able to be completed safely.

In recent weeks, there has been some buzz about the two parties agreeing to one preseason game, considering that they generate a decent amount of revenue and some players wanted the opportunity to show what they can do to make the team.

The league has been talking about increasing the number of practice squad spots this year, which should help teams retain more players than in a normal year. However, the odds will clearly be against some undrafted rookies and veterans playing on cheap contracts to secure roster spots.

We’ll have more regarding the preseason as the news is available.
