Former Colts RB Zurlon Tipton Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself

Update:

———-

Police tell FOX 2 in Detroit that NFL RB Zurlon Tipton fatally shot himself by accident at a Roseville car dealership on Tuesday.

According to Police, Tipton pulled into a service bay at the dealership around 9:30 a.m. and was taking a duffel bag out of his trunk when one gun that was inside of the bag accidentally went off struck him in the stomach.

Police expected Tipton to be okay, considering that he was speaking with people upon being transported to the hospital.

No one else was injured during the shooting.

This is terrible news and our thoughts and prayer go out to Tipton’s family and friends.

Tipton, 26, signed on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan back in May of 2014. He was on and off of the Colts’ active roster before being waived late last season.

In December of last year, Tipton was arrested for allegedly firing an assault rifle in Greenwood. Witnesses told police the suspects fled the scene in a Jeep, which was tracked down a couple of blocks from the scene.

In 2015, Tipton has appeared in 10 games and ran for 20 yards on five carries to go along with five receptions for 57 yards receiving.
