Update:
Here’s a statement from the Giants on the Jabrill Peppers news.
โWe are aware of the situation in Cleveland. The NFL has been aware of this situation for some time. Jabrill is not the subject of an investigation by the Cleveland Police Department. For confirmation, see tweets from @CLEpolice.โ
Scott Noll of WEWS reports that the NFL has requested information from Cleveland Police regarding two incidents from earlier this year involving former Giants S Jabrill Peppers.
According to Drew Scofield, the NFL requested the info on Peppers after his stolen gun and the homicide of a 57-year-old woman. However, Peppers is not a suspect in the homicide.
The report says that the first incident involving Peppers was his gun being stolen after his car was broken into. A woman named Marsha Carroll was listed as a possible suspect, but she was never arrested in the matter.
The second incident was regarding Carrollโs homicide.
Peppers, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2017. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $10.3 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.4 million for the 2019 season.
The Giants have a fifth-year option to pick up in 2020.
The Browns just traded Peppers to the Giants as part of the Odell Beckham Jr trade.
In 2018, Peppers appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 77 tackles, one sack, an interception, two fumble recoveries and five pass defenses.
We’ll have more regarding Peppers as the news is available.

You gotta love the PROCESS that Dave Gettleman is using. Last year you have Janoris Jenkins’ brother involved in a homicide in Janoris’ house. Now! You have one of the main pieces involved in the Beckham trade, Jabrill Peppers and his stolen handgun being used in a homicide. That’s exactly half of the GMEN secondary involved in a homicide, in one way or another.
Obviously Dave Gettleman does NOT do his homework thoroughly. And that is the REASON the Brownies’ GM Dorsey was willing to move on from the Brownies’ 2017 1st round pick so quickly.
Hey Gettleman! Are you going to release Jabrill Peppers? You let Landon Collins an ALL-PRO and 3x PRO BOWLER just walk for NOTHING. I guess you gotta have THUG in your blood for Gettleman to keep you a member of the GMEN.
