Broncos
- Troy Renck mentions thatย the Broncos will pursue QB Kirk Cousins in free agency, but they’ll need to have enough cap room to sign him to a market-value contract.
- With this in mind, Renck says it would not be a surprise if the Broncos released either Demaryius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders this offseason.
Browns
Browns LT Joe Thomas said recently that Cleveland is going to need to find a replacement for him at some point in the near future whether he decides to return for the 2018 season or not.
โSome positions that are a little more difficult to patch in free agency,โ Thomas said, via the News-Herald. โA lot of times quarterbacks, left tackles and cornerbacks donโt hit the market.
โNo matter what I decide to do, this is the last year of my contract in Cleveland. Iโm also 33 right now. They need to be planning for somebody else pretty soon down the line whether itโs this year or next year.โ
Giants
Giants GM Dave Gettleman explained that getting things wrong at the quarterback position is typically a major setback that could leave a team in “Quarterback Hell” for five years.
“If you take a guy just to take a guy, especially at the quarterback position, and he fails, you set yourself back five years,” Gettleman said, via SNY.com. “You set yourself back five years because there are teams that are in what I call ‘Quarterback Hell.’ They’ve got quality defense, they’ve got a good special teams, and they’re going 7-9, 8-8, 9-7. And now if there is a legitimate guy, they’ve got to trade up and give away the farm to get the guy.”
- Ralph Vacchiano writes that odds are the Giants will end up taking one of Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen or maybe even Baker Mayfield with the No. 2 overall pick.
- According to Vacchiano, third-round QB Davis Webb is an “afterthought” right now and is really just “a guy” to Gettleman and HC Pat Shurmur.
