The Kansas City Chiefs are aware of the impact that Tamba Hali has had on their defense and signing him to a longterm deal is at the top of their offseason to-do list.
Coming off of season in which he tallied 14.5 sacks and lead the AFC in that department, Hali is now set to cash in on his Pro Bowl worthy performance.
ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson see’s the Chiefs franchising him if a deal is not able to be reached between the two parties.
“Hali is a cornerstone player and I don’t see the Chiefs letting him go,” writes Williamson.
Bad news for teams that are in need of a pass rusher but we can’t say that it’s all that surprising. Hali could contest the tag if a longterm isn’t reached would leaves room for him to hit free agency but that’s by no means a certainty.
