NFL Rumors: Montee Ball, Draft, Bears, Dolphins, & Patriots

Montee Ball

  • Free agent RB Montee Ball is facing even more charges than just the disorderly conduct and misdemeanor battery of his girlfriend that occurred a few months ago, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
  • Beyond that, Ball is facing felony charges of strangulation and suffocation, substantial battery and two misdemeanor counts of domestic disorderly conduct from an incident that involved a different woman from back in 2014.
  • The second women came forward after the news of his latest incident surfaced.

Draft

  • Tony Pauline reports that the Bengals, Jets, and Patriots all sent defensive line coaches to the workout Michigan DL Willie Henry.
  • According Pauline, Michigan LB Desmond Morgan met with the Vikings, Lions and Patriots on Friday.
  • The Giants are bringing in Nebraska OL Zach Sterup for an official pre-Draft visit. (Brett Tessler)

Bears

  • The reports that the Bears were trying to trade TE Martellus Bennett for close to 18 months are largely exaggerated, according to Dan Wiederer, who notes that Ryan Pace has only been their GM for 14 months.
  • Wierderer adds that the Bears actually rejected a trade offer for Bennett before the start of free agency last year.

Dolphins

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Florida International CB Richard Leonard will work out for the Dolphins.
  • Wilson adds that Kansas RB De’Andre Mann will also work out for the Dolphins.

Patriots

  • Dan Wiederer reports that “mutual enthusiasm” between the Patriots and TE Michael Bennett about him joining their team. Weiderer adds that they see this as a golden opportunity both of them.
  • According to Wiederer, it seems likely that the Patriots will work to keep Bennett beyond the 2016 season.
