“No Takers Yet” Regarding Leonard Fournette Trade

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars have had trade talks centered around RB Leonard Fournette for more than a month now and recently circled back with teams.

However, Rapoport says there have been “no takers yet.

Even so, Rapoport mentions that Fournette could still be traded by Jacksonville before the 2020 season.

One of the teams that have been tossed out as a speculative option is the Buccaneers, but Josina Anderson reports that they’re not expected to be a landing spot, due to the depth at running back in this year’s draft.

It remains to be seen what the Jaguars are specifically looking for in return for Fournette, but it appears as though they could be looking limited compensation for him.

Fournette, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He is entering the final year of his four-year, $27.15 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $4.16 million for the 2020 season.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Jaguars to pick up in the coming weeks.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Fournette would free up $4,167,393 of available cap space while creating $4,471,524 in dead money.

In 2019, Fournette appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars and rushed for 1,152 yards on 265 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 76 receptions for 522 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Fournette as the news is available.
