Packers After Willis McGahee, DeAngelo Williams?

The Green Bay Packers could be exploring alternative running back options after the Buffalo Bill’s traded Marshawn Lynch to Seattle.

Matt Vensel of the Baltimore Sun speculates that the Packers may be targeting Willis McGahee of the Batlimore Ravens. McGahee was reported to be on the trading block months ago but nothing got done. McGahee left last Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a head injury but looks to be ready for this weekends game.

Vensel also mentions that the Carolina Panthers could start taking calls on DeAngelo Williams now that it appears they are in rebuilding mode. This is the first time that we have heard Williams name mentioned as possible trade target but a deal would no doubt help them acquire some better draft picks. The Panthers already have Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson at running back so they are in a position to trade one of them.

As of now, the Packers could shift their attention to their defense which has been decimated by injuries recently.
