Packers Release Veteran DT Ricky Jean Francois

The Green Bay Packers announced Wednesday that they’ve released veteran DT Ricky Jean Francois.

This leaves the Packers with an open roster spot so you can expect them to sign a player in the coming days.

Francois, 30, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He played four seasons for San Francisco before departing and signing on with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent.

After two years, the Colts cut Jean-Francois loose and he signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Redskins in February of 2015. Washington released him during the offseason and he later signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Packers.

Unfortunately, Green Bay cut him loose a few weeks into the season only to bring him back soon after. In 2017, Jean Francois has appeared in six games for the Packers and recorded two tackles and no sacks.
