ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports that Packers fifth-round LB Kamal Martin, who was in the mix to start Week 1, is undergoing knee surgery and is expected to miss several weeks.

Demovsky does, however, say that this isn’t considered a season-ending issue for Martin.

The Packers will likely place Martin on injured reserve in the coming days.

Martin, 21, was a three-year starter at Minnesota and was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten before being selected by the Packers in the fifth round.

Martin signed a four-year deal worth $3,566,063 that includes a signing bonus of $271,063.

During his four-year career at Minnesota, Martin appeared in 45 games and recorded 177 tackles, three and a half sacks, four forced fumbles, and four interceptions.
