Packers Rookie Notes: Nick Perry & Casey Hayward

Nick Perry

Green Bay Packers first-round pick LB Nick Perry has played left outside linebacker in each of the team’s practices thus far.

They gave me a spot to play, and that’s where I’m going to play,” Perry said, via the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Hopefully, it all goes well. I may play the left side, so we’ll see.

What’s interesting about this is that Clay Mathews has maned the position since entering the NFL, so there’s actually a chance that he could be moved to the right side next season.

Casey Hayward

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was apparently very impressed with second-round pick CB Casey Hayward.

He looks great,” McCarthy said. “He definitely looks very explosive through the hips. It’s something that jumped out at me the little bit I saw during drill work. He’s an excellent athlete. I think he’s an excellent selection.

While it’s obviously very early in the offseason, this is definitely a good sign for the Packers, as it should give them some options in the secondary to consider.
