Jason La Canfora is hearing that the Panthers’ decision regarding their next GM could come quickly and the expectation is that they will end up hiring an outside candidate.
According to La Canfora, the NFL office watching this situation closely.
The two external candidates that have interviewed for the Panthers’ position include 49ers personnel executive Martin Mayhew and Texans assistant GM Jimmy Raye III.
Panthers interim GM Marty Hurney also interviewed the full-time position but he’s currently paid leave after his ex-wife accused him of harassment last week.
Previous reports have said that while the Panthers are conducting a GM search, Hurney is the favorite for the job. However, it appears as though the investigation may have changed things from their perspective.
