Panthers Expected To Place TE Greg Olsen On IR This Week

Jourdan Rodrigue reports that the Panthers are expected to put TE Greg Olsen on injured reserve this week.

On Sunday, Olsen ruptured his plantar fascia and later told reporters that his season was likely over, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Olsen, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2007. He played four years for Chicago before he was traded to the Panthers in 2011.

Olsen was in the final year of a four-year, $27.75 million contract and is set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to a two-year extension worth $8.55 million back in April.

In 2018, Olsen has appeared in nine games for the Panthers and caught 27 passes for 291 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
