Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the Carolina Panthers have claimed DT Kentwan Balmer off of waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
Balmer is a former first-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers back in 2008 but was cut last season and subsequently picked up by the Seattle Seahawks.
ESPN’s John Clayton tweets that Panthers will most likely attempt to use him as a three technique defensive tackle.
At only 24 years old Balmer has some upside but I wouldn’t expect great things from at this point in time considering that two teams have passed on him within the span of one-year.
