According toย Knox Bardeen,ย the Panthers will the Panthers will be hostingย Georgia RB Todd Gurley for a pre-draft visit on Thursday.
- Gurley mentioned that he’s hoping toย get an invite to attend the 2015 NFL draft in Chicago, per Bardeen.
The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they hostedย Gurley, so he’s beginning to make his rounds.
Gurley is considered by many to be the most talented running back in this year’s draft class, even though he’s coming off of a torn ACL that forced him to miss this year’s Scouting Combine.
At the Combine,ย Gurley didn’t allow NFLย teams to inspect his surgically repaired knee, which generated some speculation about his recovery. However, Gurley explains that having a number of teams messing with yourย surgically repaired knee isn’t exactly an ideal situation.
โA lot of people actual donโt know whatโs going on at the combine,โ Gurley said earlier in the week, via Tim Twentyman of the DetroitLions.com. โItโs seven or eight different rooms and you have like five teams in each room and people are going to be poking and pulling and prodding on you and I didnโt want 32 teams doing that.
“Just being two months out of surgery I didnโt think that would be the right thing to do and it probably would have set me back being sore.โ
Gurley added that he’s doing “pretty good” with his recovery, but hasn’t started running yet.
โIโm doing pretty good,โ Gurley said.ย โIโm down in Pensacola, Florida rehabbing. I havenโt started running yet. Iโve been squatting, jump ropes, ladder and Iโm building strength and definitely feeling a lot stronger.โ
Last year, Gurley was suspended for four games afterย it was found that heย accepted money for autographs.
Upon returning to Georgia, Gurley unfortunately sustained the season-ending knee injury.
Gurley finished his college career withย 3,285 rushing yards onย 510 carries (6.4 YPC) to go along with 65 receptions for 615 yards receiving and 42 total touchdowns. He also contributed two kick return touchdowns as well.
