Panthers Sign WRs LaRon Byrd & Tobais Palmer, Cut Two

The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve signed receivers LaRon Byrd and Tobais Palmer to a contract on Friday.

  • The Panthers also placed tight ends Andrew Bonnett and Jake McGee on waivers to make room for the new additions.

Byrd, 26, signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2012. He lasted just a few months in Arizona before the team ultimately waived him.

Since then, Byrd has played for the Cowboys, Browns, Dolphins, Falcons and most recently for the Redskins.

Washington added Byrd to their practice squad in November of last year and elected to bring him back on a future/reserve deal after the season. However, he was placed on waivers just a few weeks ago.

Byrd last appeared in an NFL game during the 2014 season.

Palmer, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State back in 2013. He later had brief stints with the Chargers and Saints before signing a future/reserve deal with the Bills last year.

However, Palmer was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason. The Steelers elected to sign him to a future’s deal back in January before waiving him shortly after this year’s draft.

In 2013, Palmer appeared in one game, but didn’t record a single statistic.
