Bills Signing DT Vernon Butler To Two-Year, $16M Deal

According to Ian Rapoport, the Bills are signing former Panthers DT Vernon Butler to a two-year, $16 million contract.

Rapoport says the deal can be worth up to $18 million and includes $9.3 million guaranteed.

Butler is just the latest Panthers to end up with the Bills and HC Sean McDermott.

Butler, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Panthers back in 2016. He signed a four-year, $8.4 million contract with the team and made a base salary of $1,144,980 for the 2019 season.

Last year, the Panthers declined Butler’s fifth-year option worth $7.69 million, which allowed him to test the open market this offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2019, Butler appeared in 14 games for the Panthers and recorded 32 tackles, six sacks, and three forced fumbles.
