Panthers Still Have Interest In TE Jeremy Shockey

ESPN.com‘s Pat Yasinkas reports that the Carolina Panthers still have interest in re-signing TE Jeremy Shockey.

Earlier in the week, NFL Network’s analyst Warren Sapp recklessly mentioned that Shockey was the “snitch” that told the NFL about the Saints bounty program.

Shockey’s agent Drew Rosenhuas said that these allegations haven’t had an impact on the level of interest regarding his client. Rosenhuas added that he’s been in contact with the Panthers but admits that a deal between the two sides is by no means imminent.

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson said that he liked the tough mentality that Shockey brought to the team last season, but with Greg Olsen locked in as the team’s starting tight end, they’ll probably only have interest if Shockey’s willing to take a limited salary.
