Patriots Passed On SS LaRon Landry Because Of “Iffier Than They Expected” Medicals

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that the New England Patriots chose to pass on SS LaRon Landry because the medicals regarding his Achilles’ tendon injury “came back iffier than they expected.”

Landry wound up signing a one-year, incentive laden deal with the Jets. The Redskins previously suggested that he should have surgery on Achilles, but he chose to go with a stem-cell treatment instead.

It will be interesting to see if he last an entire season while being effective. If he does, he could be in for a pretty decent contract next year as the Jets will not be able to franchise him.
