Patriots Place Second-Round CB Duke Dawson On IR, Promote WR Riley McCarron

Field Yates reports that the Patriots have placed second-round CB Duke Dawson on injured reserve Thursday with a hamstring injury and promoted WR Riley McCarron to their active roster.

Dawson could be a candidate to be designated to return for the second half of the season.

Dawson, 22, was selected with the No. 56 overall pick in the second round after the Patriots traded up with the Buccaneers. According to OverTheCap.com, he receives a four-year, $4,704,282 contract that includes a $1,501,296 signing bonus.

During his four-year college career at Florida, Dawson recorded 81 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, six interceptions, three defensive touchdowns, 17 pass defenses and two forced fumbles.
